The Nokia N900 Gets Updated To The PR 1.2 Firmware – Is Coming To India Very Soon
The much talked about and awaited firmware for the N900, PR 1.2 i.e. v 10.2010.19-1 is finally available for the Nokia N900. The update will be available over the air today if you are in the UK, for everyone else it will become available on Wednesday. But if like us you would hate to wait for the firmware, then you can go ahead and download the firmware images from here and flash using this guide.
There is a separate version of the firmware for India, this means that you can expect the device in stores very soon and look forward to some Maemo goodness. PR 1.2 for the N900 brings a ton of bug fixes, new features and most importantly inbuilt Qt libraries so you can look forward to some great apps.
* Revamped virtual keyboard.
* Inbuilt Facebook IM.
* Skype Video Calling.
* Much faster application manager, with the ability to start searching as you type.
* Updates to Ovi Maps.
* Ability to rearrange icons, deltition of the ‘more’ button in the menu.
* A night mode for both photos and video.
* Support for USSD Codes
* Portrait browsing and I could go on.
Simply put, this update will greatly improve the N900 experience for you. My guess is that the N900 will come with PR 1.2 inbuilt when it hits India, so you will be in for a treat.
